Reflecting on ACIA 2026 with MED-EL

MED-EL team at ACIA

Earlier this month, MED-EL was a key sponsor at the 2026 ACIA Conference in Chicago, IL. We hosted two symposia highlighting how MED-EL continues to advance hearing technology, bringing our users closest to natural hearing with industry-leading design approaches.

During MED-EL’s satellite symposium, Dr. Pedrom Sioshansi discussed how using OTOPLAN, MED-EL’s exclusive cochlear imaging software, “eliminates the guesswork” when selecting an electrode array for each patient. OTOPLAN has improved clinical decision-making by letting individual anatomy take priority in cochlear implant care.

Furthering MED-EL’s commitment to individualized medical care, we recently received expanded indication criteria for children aged 7 months through late adolescence. This expansion aims to mirror existing clinical practice, providing children with the right care at the right time. At ACIA, MED-EL also presented how OTOPLAN and an anatomy-based approach ensure pediatric patients receive the right fit for their unique cochlear structure.

Lastly, attendees had the chance to stop by the MED-EL booth to learn about our new rechargeable batteries, RCB Pro. These batteries provide our longest battery life, and when combined with SONNET 3, in our smallest and lightest processor. Plus, good news! RCB Pro has already started shipping in SONNET 3 kits and will be available for individual purchase soon.

Thanks to everyone who came out to ACIA this year, making it yet another successful event. If you would like to learn more about MED-EL’s individualized approach to hearing solutions, please reach out to your MED-EL representative.
